ROWAlaska.net Website - 2024

The ROWAlaska.net Website was brought online in November of 2021. Its purpose, as stated on the Home page is to "...facilitate the understanding of Highway Rights-of-Way in Alaska and to provide easier access to some archival materials that are not readily available." Most of my nearly 30 years with DOT&PF Right of Way involved title research and mapping which included the interpretation of the basis for highway rights-of-way. One would expect this to be a fairly straightforward exercise, but that is not the case. After I retired from DOT&PF in 2014, I continued with the same type of research working for R&M Consultants, Inc. I realized that a lot of highway right-of-way research`involved reinventing the wheel as there was no easy access to the required research materials. I hoped to alleviate some of that pain by uploading most of my research materials to the web. This project and PowerPoint presentation was to introduce the ROWAlaska.net website to professional surveyors at the 2024 annual ASPLS Conference.
